Introducing Our Free Custom GPTs: On-Demand Support for Parents, Paraprofessionals, and Co-Teachers

At Layered Education, one thing has always been true: families and educators deserve access to high-quality special education support, without having to jump through hoops, wait weeks for answers, or spend money they don’t have.

We know the reality. Parents are trying to advocate while working full-time and raising children. Paraprofessionals are asked to do everything without consistent training. Co-teaching teams are expected to co-plan, co-instruct, and meet diverse needs, often with limited time, tools, or coaching.

So we asked ourselves a simple question:

What would it look like to give people real support, in real time, for free?

That question led us to something we’re excited to officially share: Layered Education Custom GPTs — three free tools designed to provide helpful information, scripts, and planning support on demand.

These are currently in beta, which means we’re actively improving them, updating them, and listening closely to feedback so they get smarter and more useful over time.

Below is a breakdown of what’s available and how to use each one.

What is a Custom GPT?

A custom GPT is a specialized version of ChatGPT designed to do specific tasks well. Think of it as a focused tool, built around your needs, rather than a general chatbot.

Our custom GPTs are designed to help you:

  • get quick answers and next steps

  • generate scripts and letters

  • plan support strategies

  • problem-solve common school situations

  • feel less alone when you’re navigating complex systems

And most importantly: they’re free.

Each GPT has a one-pager with a QR code to launch and examples of what to ask, so you don’t have to guess where to start.

1) My Sped Advocate GPT (For Families)

This tool is built for parents and caregivers who want clear, supportive guidance while navigating special education systems.

It can help you:

  • understand the difference between an IEP and a 504

  • learn what your rights are (in plain language)

  • draft advocacy letters and emails to schools

  • prepare for meetings and know what questions to ask

  • Map out the next steps if the school is delaying support

This GPT is not a replacement for legal advice, but it does translate the confusing language and help families feel more confident about what to do next.

If you’re a parent who has ever thought, “I don’t even know what to say in this meeting,” or“I don’t know what I’m allowed to ask for,” this tool was built with you in mind.

2) Parapro Coach GPT (For Paraprofessionals)

Paraprofessionals are often the heartbeat of inclusive education, and they’re also the most likely to be unsupported, undertrained, and asked to take on responsibilities outside their role.

This GPT is designed to give paraeducators:

  • quick strategies for academic support

  • behavior support scripts and redirection language

  • guidance for supporting students socially

  • role clarity (what you should do vs. what should be done by credentialed staff)

  • confidence boosts on hard days

It’s meant to be an “on-demand support system” for paras—especially those who don’t have consistent coaching or training built into the workday.

It’s also ideal for educators and administrators who want to provide paras with a safe, helpful tool that reinforces role boundaries and best practices.

3) Co-Teaching Coach GPT (For Gen Ed + Special Ed Co-Teachers)

We are especially excited about this one.

Co-teachers are often given district-mandated lessons or scripted curriculum and asked to “make it co-taught”—but without a clear playbook for how to move beyond one teach, one assist.

The Co-Teaching Coach GPT is designed to help co-teaching partners take the lesson they already have and transform it into strong co-taught instruction.

You can use it to:

  • upload or paste a lesson plan

  • Ask for station teaching options

  • generate parallel teaching structures

  • create alternative teaching groupings

  • plan roles, grouping, pacing, and accommodations

  • get “quick” and “leveled-up” versions of the same lesson

It’s a way to bring structure and creativity into co-teaching—without needing hours of planning time or expensive coaching support.

These Tools Are in Beta — and We Want Your Feedback

Because these GPTs are brand new, they’re still evolving. You may notice moments where the tool:

  • doesn’t answer exactly the way you hoped

  • needs more specificity

  • could offer more options

  • or doesn’t understand what your campus needs

That’s not a failure—that’s part of beta.

And here’s the good news: We can improve them quickly.

If you use one and think: “This would be amazing if it also did ____,” or“It’s almost perfect but I need it to ____, ”send us a DM. We can update the instructions behind the scenes and make it better.

Why We Made Them Free

We are very aware that many families and educators are navigating uncertain times. Not everyone can access consulting support, coaching services, or paid programs—and that shouldn’t be a barrier to getting help.

These tools are one way we’re trying to give back:

  • to parents who are doing their best to advocate

  • to paras who are holding everything together

  • to co-teachers trying to do inclusive education well with limited time

We want you to have access to support that is practical, respectful, and empowering—without needing a budget line.

How to Access the GPTs

You can access them directly through the post using the QR codes on the one-pagers, or search them by name inside ChatGPT:

  • My Sped Advocate GPT

  • Parapro Coach GPT

  • Co-Teaching Coach GPT

If you want the one-pagers sent directly to you, message us, and we’ll share them.

Final Thoughts

Layered Education has always been about one thing: making inclusion more doable, more equitable, and more human.

These custom GPTs are another step toward that, real tools for real people, on real school days.

They’re free. They’re growing. And we hope they truly support you.

When you try them, let us know what works, what doesn’t, and what you wish they could do next. We’re listening.

💛 — Layered Education
