Glynis Shulters is a leading educational consultant and the founder of Layered Education, a firm dedicated to empowering educators and transforming special education systems. Glynis specializes in supporting schools with co-teaching and reading intervention — two high impact practices for improving outcomes for students with disabilities. Through coaching, professional development, and thought partnership, she equips teachers, school leaders, and families with the tools they need to deliver inclusive, high-impact instruction.

 

With over 16 years of experience in both traditional districts and charter schools, Glynis has served as a special education teacher, CMO-level special education administrator, and MTSS specialist. Her work is driven by a passion for equity in education, particularly for historically marginalized communities. She believes deeply in the power of high-quality, inclusive education to unlock opportunity for all students.

 

Under Glynis’s leadership, Layered Education also offers a full range of specialized support services through a trusted network of expert consultants — ensuring that schools have the bandwidth to meet the diverse needs of their students and staff.

 

When she's not coaching co-teachers, building structured literacy programs, or helping leaders refine their special education systems, Glynis enjoys everything Southern California has to offer. She’s a tent camper, hyper-organizer, baker, kids’ birthday party planner, and holiday enthusiast — but most importantly, a devoted wife and mom to two amazing kids. She loves a great Italian meal, cheering on the Chicago Bears, exploring wineries, and diving into self-development books. Known for her big personality and boundless energy, Glynis brings passion, expertise, and authentic enthusiasm to everything she does.
